Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
I always tell my children that Christmas Music, aside from the Jingle Bells and Fa-la-las, is simply worship music and there's no shame in singing it out all year long. I don't want to feel that I assault any one's ears with Joy to the World too many times outside of November and December, so I very much look forward to the crisp fall air which reminds me that the time is soon... First we start with some some classical music with holiday undertones in October and fall into the jazz in November. About Veteran's Day, Pandora is playing full- blown Christmas Carols.... including the Fa-la-las.
With all of that said, I have those few songs that I can't even make it through because the blubbering and crying out in joy falls over me. My gift, the way I feel that Jesus speaks to me, is this: song... the kind that I see Him shining through and that all should raise their hands when poured upon the ears. Rejoice! Rejoice in singing, crying, praising, and silence. Reverence.
On the 1st Day of Christmas Carols we follow the faithful. We follow and adore and forever are faithful. Come, Let Us Adore Him... Christ the Lord! Casting Crowns and O Come All Ye Faithful.
On the 2nd Day of Christmas Carols we Rejoice! Joy! Let Earth receive her KING! He rules with truth and grace and His great mercies pour down upon us! Mariah Carey and Joy to the World!
On the 3rd Day of Christmas Carols we prepare for the coming of Emmanuel. Oh Come to Us, Lord. Piano Guys and O Come O Come Emmanuel.
On the 4th day of Christmas Carols we sing a hymn of expectation. He's born to set His people free, an expected promise. Fernando Ortega and Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.
On the 5th day of Christmas Carols we are humbled. When we have nothing but yet you should present your very best. He only wants your heart, your hands, and your faithfulness. Pentatonix and Little Drummer Boy.
On the 6th Day of Christmas Carols we follow the star. The kings knew the celestial promise of great things, great changes, and great promises. They followed the star to the King of the World. Piano Guys and We Three Kings.
On the 7th Day of Christmas Carols we #ShareTheGift Share it! Share it every day! Share the beauty in the promise of eternity. Share the gift of life! Share the gift that is forever! Christ is not missing from Christmas when you wear it on your sleeve every day, live it every day, sing it every day, and share it every day! Piano Guys and David Archuleta and Angels From the Realms of Glory.
#ShareTheGift
On the 8th day of Christmas Carols we share in the wonder of who came on that heavenly night. Children are in wonder at His majesty and adults bask in the beauty that lightens their children's faces. The beauty of The Season of Light. James Taylor and Who Comes This Night.
On the 9th Day of Christmas Carols we sing Hallelujah and give our hearts to the Christ, Emmanuel, God with us. Amen! Jeremy Camp and God With Us.
On the 10th Day of Christmas Carols we sing a sweet lullaby to the sweet Baby Jesus born to the man who could have easily walked away, but became an earthly father to the King of the Universe. A sweet lullaby to remember our humanity. MercyMe and Joseph's Lullaby.
On the 11th Day of Christmas Carols we place the savior into the arms of mankind. Mary, the first Christian. A woman who brought forth a forever change. A woman who fed a king at the breast, who nurtured and grew a perfect man who one day would die for her. Pentatonix and Mary Did you Know?
On the 12th Day of Christmas we have HOPE! Hope was not born on a snowy night in December nor was it celebrated as a holiday. Hope was born to be for every night, for every moment, for ever and ever... But no matter the season, the month, nor the day that love came down, that very night that there was a cry in the night and angels sang His Glory, Hope Was Born That Night! And for that, Merriest of Christmases to you every single night! Sidewalk Prophets and Hope Was Born This Night.
And after we're done singing our praise and worship songs to our king and savior, let's reflect a bit over those who are so willing to help protect our religious liberties to do so. Our family thanks each and everyone out there standing the watch overseas and at home: Airman, Coast Guardsmen, Firemen, Marines, Police Officers, Sailors, Soldiers and all other civil servants. Lord bless you always. We hope that one day you will be home for Christmas to celebrate with your loved ones and friends.
